‘Sunburn’ as you can make guesses by the name it is a problem where the skin burns due to over exposure in sun. It is a condition when the skin is overexposed to the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun and hence sunburn took place. There are some other sources of ultraviolet rays are tanning lamps and welding arcs as they can also give way to sunburn. It is not the condition to be ignored or taken lightly as it can cause skin cancer which can lead to death or permanent disability. Fair people are at the higher risk of having the problem as compared to darker people.
Home Remedies for Sunburn Treatment:
Milk– Milk is known as an energy providing drink, but it also gives you relief from the burns. For that take a clean soft cloth, now, dip it in milk and directly put over the area having burns. It is one of the simple but effective home remedy for sunburn.
Cucumber/ Potato- Take a cucumber / potato wash it and cut some thin slices of them. Now, put it over the burnt area as these are helpful in lessening the inflammation of skin. It is a wonderful sunburn remedy.
Mustard Oil– Rub some mustard oil over the area having a sunburn. It not only will provide relief from the burn, but also it will lessen the itching.
Lavender Oil– It is beneficial for the treatment of sunburn. After application of some of the oil over the area you will get relief from pain as well as itching. This is a simple home remedy for sunburn.
Tomato Juice– In a bowl, mix tomato juice along with buttermilk in the ratio of 1:6. Apply the resultant solution over the burnt area. Wash the area after 30 minutes.
Sandalwood- Prepare a mixture with sandalwood powder and water. Apply the paste over the affected area. It is sure short method of relieving the pain and burning sensation.
Aloe Vera Gel- Apply some aloe Vera gel over the sun burnt area.
Olive Oil- Take 1 spoon of olive oil and mix same amount of vinegar in it. Mix the both well. Apply the mixture over the area having burns. Wash after an hour and you will get relief from the sunburn.
Cabbage Leaves– Boil some of cabbage leaves and mash them well to get a fine paste. Apply the paste over the sun burnt area. It will not only provide relief, but also make it look fairer too. This is an effective home remedy for sunburn.
Barley Flour– Mix barley flour, raw egg and some honey and prepare a fine paste. Apply the paste over the affected area. Wash after some time.
Lettuce Leaves- Boil some of the lettuce leaves in water. When it cooled down, strain the liquid from the solution. Apply the water over the sun burnt area with the help of cotton balls.
Tomatoes- Take 2 tomatoes and 1 cucumber, grind it well to make a puree. Add some of the lemon drops in it. Apply the juice over the sun burnt or sun tanned area. When it goes dry, apply it again. Repeat the whole process for three times. It is a process that not only provides relief the burnt area, but also add glow to the skin.
