How to Looks- Ginger is a thick, knotted and also rhizome (underground stem). It grows around 12 inches above the ground and the leaves of the plant are narrow, long, ribbed and green. It has white or yellowish green flowers. The active components of the ginger root are considered pungent phenol compounds and volatile oils.

Names and Family- The scientific name of the herb is Zingiber Officinale. It is also known by another name “Anomum Zingiber”. The family of the ginger is “Zingiberaceae”. Its name is taken from Sanskrit word is “Stringa Vera” which means ‘having a body like a horn’.

Motion Sickness– Many of the recent surveys conclude that ginger is very effective in lessening the symptoms of motion sickness as compared to placebo. There was a test done over the 80 people, people who were suffering from motion sickness when dosed with ginger powder found very less symptoms of cold sweating and vomiting as compared to those who have given placebo. Even health volunteers presented the same results too. It not only reduces the symptom to the problem but also is able to treat it well. Also, after having medication you can have some of the side effects like dry mouth or in some cases drowsiness, but if you took the help of ginger then you are completely free from all these symptoms.

Nausea and Vomiting after Pregnancy– If a woman having vomiting or nausea associated with pregnancy, then she has to do simple thing that she has to take a gram of ginger on the daily basis. It should be taken at short period means for 4 days. Many studies said that as compared to placebo ginger is more effective in providing relief from nausea and vomiting.

Some Culinary Uses- In Asian and Oriental cookery, fresh ginger is a necessary item. They use it in pickles, curry pastes, chutneys and also as a ground dried root which is the essential element for many curry powders. You can also have it as a salad as for that take tender ginger and have slices of it. The preserved ginger is eaten as confection, puddings and for cakes.
