Recently, according to a research, Dutch researchers said that drinking coffee, have sex and even blowing your nose could temporarily increases the risk of rupturing a brain aneurysm and suffering a stroke. Researcher’s team discovered the eight main triggers that can increase the risk of intracranial aneurysm (IA); this is weakness in the wall of brain blood vessel which often causes it to balloon. If it ruptures, it can result in a subarachnoid hemorrhage that is actually a stroke which is caused due to bleeding at the base of the brain. According the survey, about 2% people from the general population have IAs but few of them have rupture.
During the research , it is found that people who used to consume coffee have 10.6% of them and people used to do vigorous exercise may have 7.9%, nose blowing people have 5.4% and few percent of 4.3% people who have sex are at that risk. Also, angry people are at 1.3% of risk, those who used to consume excess amount of cola are at 3.5% risk, and those who straining to defecate are at 3.6% risk of having a stroke. Doctors and researchers who were the part of the survey said that all the triggers mentioned above are induce short and sudden increase in blood pressure and increased blood pressure is a very common cause of aneurismal rupture.
Even Monique H.M Vlak, M.D., lead author of the study and neurologist at the University Medical Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands agreed with the fact mentioned above. Researchers also added some few things by saying that risk was at the height after having alcohol but soon it decreased down quickly. Subarachnoid hemorrhage is a health issue which is caused due to rupture of an intracranial aneurysm, it is a devastating event and generally young adults are the main target of it.
Even the Vlak said that “These trigger factors we fund are superimposed on the known risk factors, including female gender, age and hypertension.” It is true that physical activities had triggering potential and even researchers don’t advise refraining from it because it plays important role in lowering the risk of other cardiovascular diseases. The researchers came to the conclusion after research that there are eight main factors which can give way to the problem and also told about their contribution to the risk. Even Vlak also added by saying, “Reducing caffeine consumption or treating constipated patients with enraptured IAs with laxatives may lower the risk of subarachnoid haemorrhage.” He also said that patients with enraptured IAs are suggested to have medicine like antihypertensive drugs as they are helpful to prevent aneurismal ruptures. Also, he said the studies are still going on for getting more and detail knowledge of the problem. So, do take care and follow whatever mentioned above.
